Featured Female in Business: Tiana Ferrett

If you’ve ever dreamed of turning a personal passion into a thriving business, Tiana Ferrett’s story will hit home. As the founder of The Pilates Ritual, Tiana turned her love for movement into a business that’s helping Spokane locals move with confidence, strength, and control.

"I wrote in my journal one day, ‘I will own a successful Pilates studio by the time I’m 40.’ A few months later, we moved from Oakland, CA, back to Spokane, and I knew I had to make it happen," Tiana shares. Three years in, her boutique Pilates studio in the historic Steam Plant building is thriving, proving that a mix of passion, dedication, and community support can turn a dream into reality.

The Beauty of The Pilates Ritual

Unlike large, impersonal fitness studios, The Pilates Ritual offers small reformer classes and private sessions where clients get individualized attention. "I will never compromise on the quality of my classes. It’s important to me that each client feels seen and accomplishes their goals," she says. That level of dedication shows—not just in the results her clients see but in the friendships and support networks that have formed within her studio. "Some come in timid and quiet but leave exchanging numbers with the person next to them. Seeing businesswomen in my classes support each other is amazing!"

Turning a Passion Into a Business

Like many female entrepreneurs, Tiana quickly learned that running a business isn’t just about doing what you love. "The whole business side of owning a business—marketing, networking, accounting—was a huge learning curve. I’ve gone through three CPAs since opening!" she laughs. Her biggest lesson? Learning to delegate. "Time is money. If there’s something you don’t love doing, hire someone else to do it. It’s worth it."

Tiana keeps it real when offering advice to women looking to start or grow their own business:

  1. Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people you admire and learn from their experiences.

  2. Delegate. Your time is valuable—focus on what you do best and let others handle the rest.

  3. Do your research. Not every opportunity is the right one; be patient and strategic with your decisions.

Founded on Connection + Relationships

More than just a fitness studio, The Pilates Ritual is a space for connection, growth, and confidence. "Teaching Pilates lights me up! It’s a boost of energy that even espresso can’t give me," Tiana says. She hopes her work creates a ripple effect—helping one person at a time feel better in their body, build confidence, and maybe even inspire them to try something new.
